AMOUR
Amour opens with a surprising burst of freshness as the spicy balsamic aroma of elemi is greeted by the earthy rosiness of geranium. United by their shared hesperidic undertones, the two materials serve to elevate and augment one another, lending the fragrance a sense of perpetual motion. From the start, Amour always seems to be shifting and transforming as hidden facets are brought into view, and then as quickly as they appear, they recede into the background.
The transition into the fragrance’s heart is seamless, as the rosy aspects of geranium slowly yield to the crimson depths of the majestic Turkish rose, a trio of shadows rises from the depths to meet its brilliance, balancing the floral richness of rose with a robust baritone chorus of woods. Oudh imbues the fragrance with an immense complexity; its aroma is unlike any that of any other raw material, variously described as spicy, woody, earthy, and leathery. A leather accord provides a sultry, luxurious warmth to the fragrance. Finally, the aromatic, almost incense-like aroma of cypriol envelopes the whole of the composition in wispy ribbons of smoke.
CHAPARRAL
In the waning hours of a hot summer day, golden light spills across the arid hills of the Ojai valley. During this golden hour, the sunbaked chaparral is bathed in a soft, warm light, blanketing the region in an otherworldly glow. The dusty, parched aroma ancient soil and sunbaked earth mingles with the subtly sweet, hay-like aroma of the desiccated flora. As the sun passes behind the hills and the heat of the day slowly dissipates, the landscape springs to life, invigorated by the cool air of the early evening. The delicately herbal fragrance of California sagebrush mingles with the honeyed aroma of pearly everlasting, perfuming the warm air with faint notes of chamomile tea and hay. Bay laurel, bracing, camphoraceous, punctuates the gentle aroma with a staccato-like vigor. The leaves of an ancient oak tree rustle in the gentle breeze, the heady aroma of citrus blossom hangs in the air, ferried inland from coastal groves
UPLAND
Equal parts harsh and majestic, California’s high sierra region inspires awe at every turn. Formed at a glacial pace over millions of years, its pristine vistas stand as a striking monument to the supreme power and beauty of nature. In the quiet solitude, we reflect and meditate, breathing in the cool mountain air, perfumed with the fresh, coniferous aroma of the jeffrey pine. On the breeze, the faintest hit of the bracing, herbaceous scent of juniper berry. Beneath your feet you feel the crunching of pine needles and broken twigs. The intoxicating aroma of damp earth and pinecones fills your lungs. Higher still, the great conifers begin to give way to sweet grass and wildflowers. They line the banks of glacial lakes—remarkably blue and impossibly still. Here, the scents possess an almost kaleidoscopic quality as they pull apart before snapping back together in infinite combinations.
